Reactive Dog Workshop
with Emma Parsons, KPA CTP, CDBC

12:30-5:30PM

The Reactive Dog Workshop is a 4-5-hour workshop whose sole purpose is to teach the Click to Calm methodology in one session so that the owners of overly stimulated dogs can start practicing the methodology with their dogs in previously challenging environments.

The solution is threefold: first, to teach the dog a reliable default behavior, second, to teach the dog that the presence of the stimulus (“object of interest”) is the cue to look at them, and third, to insert an alternate or incompatible behavior. In this way, the handler does not have to distract the dog, nor keep the dog “busy” when faced with these risky situations.

Foundation behaviors and emergency protocols will also be discussed.

Because of the small size, individual attention is given to each of the 5 working dog teams. Auditors are limited to 12.

Working Dog & Handler Team: $185+tax (limit 5) - Click here to register
Auditing: $100+tax (limit 12) - Click here to register

Auditors cannot bring dogs with them to this seminar.

October 20th & 21st, 2018
"Click to Calm & Control Unleashed for Canine Confidence!"
with Emma Parsons, KPA CTP, CDBC

Two-day seminar, 9AM to 4PM.

Saturday, October 20th: Basic Behavior Building
Sunday, October 21st: Advanced Games

This purpose of this seminar is to teach dogs to focus on their handlers in high distraction environments. These exercises are perfect for the competition dog/handler team.

We will begin by reviewing the “Click to Calm” methodology (the presence of the distraction IS the cue to look at the handler) as well as work on necessary Foundation Behaviors such as the Back Up Sit, CTC without eye contact from the handler (multi-tasking), Get Behind, and Reorienting. Novel Stimulus will also be introduced and added to the exercises for complexity.

Control Unleashed exercises will also be added in: Parallel Jumping/Heeling, Car Crash Game and the “Dog In The Face.” All of these are fun games geared towards teaching specific skills such as acclimating dogs to the movement of other dogs and people, navigating small spaces in public areas safely and teaching dogs to better tolerate the situation where dogs “meet” head to head.
